GlenOak senior C.J. McCollum has been named the 2008-09 Gatorade Ohio Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
The award recognizes outstanding athletic performance and high standards of academic achievement and character.
McCollum, a 6-foot-2 guard who averaged 29.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 2.2 assists for GlenOak (18-5), is now a finalist for Gatorade's national honor.
McCollum, who has a 3.2 grade-point average, became GlenOak's leading scorer this season, finishing with 1,405 points, passing the mark of 1,297 points set by Kosta Koufos.
McCollum has signed a national letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Lehigh University.
