Mike Fugate Breaks School Scoring Record

6' senior guard Mike Fugate is one of the most talented point guards in Michigan's 2009 class and his name is now at the top of White Lake Lakeland's all-time scoring record, formerly held by Gary Gleason ('78-80).

Fugate's 17 points last night in a win against Pinckney pushing his career total to 1,046. The Lakeland squad is 16-2 and Fugate leads the team in scoring with 18 ppg. The point total could be higher but the future Saginaw Valley State guard often defers to teammates, doesn't wonder from Lakeland's strict half-court offense, and has faced defenses geared to stop him over the last two-years.

Saginaw Valley's head coach Frankie Smith received a commitment from the three-year varsity starter last spring and GLIAC opponents are sure to have their hands full over the next four seasons.
