Warren De La Salle Moves to CHSL Final

Warren De La Salle and Orchard Lake St. Mary's have had some wars over the years and last night was no different. The ten lead changes, four ties, physical play, and a game that came down to the wire were treats for basketball fans in attendance at this Catholic League AB playoff semi-final.

De La Salle rose to the occasion and will play at Calihan Hall face the University of Detroit-Jesuit/Novi Catholic Central winner. That game is tonight at Birmingham Marian.

De La Salle can be credited for making their free-throws down the stretch as 6' senior guard Alex Harville scored the two most important points of his game high fifteen points as he made the game winning free throws with just over a minute in regulation. Future Northwestern Wildcat's 6'4 Alex Marcotullio added another free-throw to finalize the game, 51-48.

Marcotullio (12 points) only had three points at the half and future Michigan State football/basketball Spartan 6'5 senior forward Dion Sims hadn't scored by the half. Sims picked up his third foul halfway through the middle of the second quarter and was on the bench until the third quarter.

De La Salle received steady scoring from Harville and Lehigh's future 6'10 center Kevin McCarthy scored sixteen while grabbing ten boards.

5'10 junior Evan Webster timely perimeter shooting led Orchard Lake St. Mary's with eleven points. Sims and 6' senior guard Jeff Jones added ten each. 6'6 freshman center Quaran Jones is physical and a name to look for in the future. His game was interrupted by early foul trouble as he scored seve in the games first nine minutes.

Harville and Jones are two different but talented 6' guards that are being recruited by Division III and NAIA schools.
