Last night,Canton Timken knocked off the state of Ohio's #1 ranked team and potential national contender Columbus Northland 67-61 in overtime. Timken was lead by Jared Porrini's 23 points, as 19 of those points came in the 2nd half as the 6-foot-4 lefty slashed and dashed to the cup. Porrini got to the line 10 times and showed the ability to take over the game at times. 6-foot-7, Canton Timken big man Cameron Howard had a huge game with chipping in 12 points, snarling 12 rebounds and blocking 5 blocks. Corey Porrini also added 15 off the bench to add firepower.
Columbus Northland was lead by 2010,do-it-all big Jared Sullinger's 19 points, 25 rebounds and 4 defensive charges. Sullinger who hit 3's, brought the ball up, crashed the glass, seemed to be out of gas in the overtime period as the Timken defense just wore down the hybrid big man. 5-foot-11,Sophomore guard Trey Burke added 15 points and played a solid point game considering Timkens full-court press and endless run and jump defense. 2010 High-flyer JD Weatherspoon contributed a quiet 9 points (4 on monster Lob-Dunks). Weatherspoon was rather passive and was seemingly uncomfortable with the trapping pressure on the perimeter. Senior Power Forward Javon Cornley added 14 points.
See you soon: Both these teams are front-runners to make it to the Final 4 in Columbus come March.
