With 6-10 inches of snow falling across Michigan, call before you travel to these hot spots:
7:30pm Kalamazoo Central hosts Benton Harbor in a game that is sure to bring the oohs and aahs as "The Doug Anderson Show" (pictured) battles equally strong 6'6 senior Tyrone Black in the paint. There are at least eight division I players in this game. Look for Central's 6'5 junior Devin Oliver and his counterpart 6'5 junior Terrell Clinton. Home team wins 66-58.
7pm Lansing Eastern makes the short trip to Lansing Sexton where two of the state's best underclassmen, Eastern's 6'5 sophomore LaDontae Henton and 6'5 freshman Denzel Valentine, showcase the early recruiting. 6'2 senior guard Nate Duhon is coming off a 28 point scoring performance and is one of the state's best-unsigned seniors. Henton is too much 72-70.
7:30pm Big Battle at the University of Detroit-Jesuit as the Cubs host the Warren Cousino Patriots and a preview of the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University's future in the post. Cousino's 6'9 senior big man Matt Balkema is the second division I post player to battle future Wolverine Jordan Morgan in two weeks. The Cubs have a solid freshman guard in Cameron Fowler and a 6'5 senior wing, Gerald Bridges, who found his way to success inside last Saturday. Balkema's not enough 62-50.
7pm Utica Eisenhower travels to Roseville where two juniors, 6'9 Corey Petros and 6'3 Brandon Gouch, are continuing a trend of Division I players emerging from Macomb County. Petros has offers from at least a dozen schools mainly from the M.A.C. and other instate programs while Gouch made a 22 point impression in a win over Melvindale Academy of Business & Technology and fellow junior 5'10 Mike "Trey" Talley III. 6'5 senior forward Dragan Bijelic is gaining Division II looks with solid scoring games early in the season.
